Organic : The Organic Tonka Bean Absolute is Organic but not certified. This type of Organic Oil is usually farmed organically but not certified, normally because there is no certifying agency in the area where it is grown. Chemicals such as pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers are not used. Instead the products are cultivated using traditional farming methods. Soil fertility is built; natural systems are worked with, not against; there is minimal, if any damage to the environment, and most importantly, Mother Nature is being respected.

Tonka Bean Absolute *Semi-Solid* (Pure)

**Comes in a jar**

1/2 oz (15 ml.)
1 oz (30 ml.)
Please Notice: Tonka Bean Absolute is a semi solid essential oil.

There are a few essential oils that often arrive in solid or semi-solid form, and this frequently happens with oils that contain menthol, or oils that are made from resins. This does not mean your oil is of inferior quality, in fact, the opposite is true; but we have not diluted it with oil so as to be easier to use because our reputation depends upon the purity of the oils we supply. To receive one of these oils simply means it is a very dense oil with a higher number of long-chain fatty acids. To get it to pour, you must heat it, even in simmering water, until the oil liquefies again. Manufacturing plants will have a heating belt on which the drum will rotate while being heated.

If you wish to dilute it with another oil (such as jojoba), please heat that oil as well, so that both are at the same temperature when you combine them. Mix well, and when cool, check the strength of your now-pourable oil – and check your formulas for any adjustments you may need to make.  Please Notice, Organic Tonka Bean Absolute (30% Ethanol) listed on the left side is liquid.

Pure Absolute Oils :

This Oil is an Absolute Oils. Many times distillation of a plant by steam method does not extract as much natural oil from the plant, or in some cases, breaks down the precious natural oil in delicate flowers.
The solvent extraction method is often used in these cases. As a rule, absolutes are more concentrated than a similar essential oil. Therefore, an absolute goes much further than the essential oil counterpart. Silky Scents™ Provides you the highest grade of Absolute Oils

Aromatherapy Properties: (Uses) Tonka Bean Absolute is one of the most common ingredients in perfumery. Tonka bean belongs to oriental category of perfumery notes. These black, wrinkled seeds of the Dipteryx odorata (often mentioned as "cumaru" or "kumaru") are also found in numerous other products such as soaps or tobacco, and castor oil where they are used to improve aroma. Adds a deliciously sweet and caramel candy-like aroma to natural perfume blends. It is an excellent fixative. In addition of using in perfumery, Tonka Bean Absolute is also used n flavoring tobacco and castor oil.
Blends well with: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Rose, Lemon, and Lavender.
History: The name “Tonka” originates from Galibi language, native to population of French Guyana. The Galibi word tonqua or tonquin translates to “bean”. In the Pagan and Occult tradition, Tonka bean is believed to have magical properties. Mages believe that crushed Tonka beans brewed in herbal tea may help to cure soul, relieve symptoms of depression and confusion, chase away negative thoughts and boost the immune system. It is also believed that holding the bean in one hand, while whispering a wish, leads to its fulfillment. The journey of Tonka bean to the heart of perfumery begins in 1793, when the cumaru fruit was first introduced to French people. The plant was cultivated and grown as a tropical tree with beautiful purple flowers, each containing one bean. Black Tonka beans, distinguished by their wrinkled surface, are dark brown from the inside and they spread characteristic vanilla-like flavor that reminds of the scent of cinnamon, saffron, almond and cloves. The beans are also commonly used as a replacement for vanilla and their olfactory impression has a powdery-sweet effect with intensive balmy, warm, gourmand and intoxicating character.
Blends well with: Angelica Root, Basil Sweet, Castoreum, Cedarwood Atlas, Celery Seed, and Chamomile Maroc.
