Carrier Oils for your Essential Oil Blends :

Botanical Name: Viola Odorata
Country of Origin: Egypt
Cultivation Method: Conventional
Method of Extraction: Solvent Extracted Leaf (Absolute)
Aromatic Description: The aroma is herbal, sweet, green with some woody and floral notes. violet Leaf absolute has a Strong, green, leafy note with delicate floral undertone.
  Consistency: Liquid
Perfumery Note: Middle
Aromatherapy Properties: (Uses) Violet Leaf Absolute is used as an adjunct in high-quality perfumes. FYI: There's no steam distillation of violet flowers.  It appears to be a mild analgesic, liver decongestant, and expectorant. May be helpful with acne, eczema and thread veins. Avoid on sensitive skin.

The exquisite fragrance of some flowers is spoiled by heat using steam distillation, therefore other means of extraction are used. An absolute is one of those means and is obtained by immersing the flowers in a solvent (usually hexane) which produces a waxy substance known as a concrete.  The solvent is then removed from the concrete resulting in a thick oil known as an absolute which carries the properties of the essential oil in the flowers.

The absolute does contain additional aromatic components that are not present in a distilled oil.

An absolute is the most concentrated form of fragrance (and the most costly), and is mostly used in the perfume industry. Due to its concentration, Absolutes do not always smell pleasant. In almost ALL cases they must be diluted to 10 % strength before sampling.

Pure Absolute Oils :

This Oil is an Absolute Oils. Many times distillation of a plant by steam method does not extract as much natural oil from the plant, or in some cases, breaks down the precious natural oil in delicate flowers. The solvent extraction method is often used in these cases. As a rule, absolutes are more concentrated than a similar essential oil. Therefore, an absolute goes much further than the essential oil counterpart. Silky Scents™ Provides you the highest grade of Absolute Oils
